The MTV European Music Awards have reversed the decision they made on November 6 when they presented the Best African Act Award to Wizkid instead of the rightful owner Ali Kiba.
On November 10, the MTV EMA Management reversed the decision and gave the award to Ali Kiba. They regretted having messed up with the award announcing the wrong person and said they have rectified the mistake.
“Both Ali Kiba and Wizkid are great artists and deserving to win at MTV EMA and we congratulate the wholeheartedly” said MTV EMA Spokesperson “We apologize for any confusion but we are pleased to recognize achievements of both these artists on this global platform.”
After Wizkid was announced the winner, Ali Kiba fans who were convinced they won the award went on social media and attacked MTV EMA endlessly which prompted MTV to go back to the counters and see who really won.
Eddy Kenzo the Ugandan artist who was also cheated in the MTV Africa Music Awards where the award was given to someone with less votes compared to him congratulated Ali Kiba and went on to say that much as his decision was not reversed, he still considered himself a winner and celebrated with his team.
“Congratulations Team @officialalikiba for your well deserved Award. In Uganda we got issues they were even happy. But me and my team we celebrated that win because we won even though they honored another person. Keep up the spirit Tanzania will always go higher I’m happy for you guys.” Said Eddy Kenzo
